Changes to Malnutrition Diagnosing
Recently, Casa Colina adopted a new policy for diagnosing malnutrition. The new diagnostic criteria were adopted based on a consensus statement published by the American Society for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Although CMS currently offers no specific definition of malnutrition, it will likely use a version of the ASPEN guidelines in the future. The policy changes are summarized below and can be found in MCN under Clinical Nutrition Services #D006.
